At Ascent College our Adult Education classes offer top notch tuition in English Proficiency

targeted at adults who could not get access to the mainstream schooling systems.We basically helped

them to develop skills in Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening.

What is Adult Education

Adult education, distinct from child education, is a practice in which adults engage

in systematic and sustained self-educating activities in order to gain new forms of knowledge,

skills, attitudes, or values. It can mean any form of learning adults engage in beyond traditional

schooling, encompassing basic literacy to personal fulfillment as a lifelong learner.

Courses covered include:

*English as a second language

*English literacy

*Business Management

*Mathematics

*Phonetics and Vocaboulary Development

*Speaking

*Computer/Digital Literacy

Our Speaking Curriculum will evolve around

  1. Dialogue with the target audience about their aspirations, attitudes, perceptions, priorities, problems and suggested solution.

 

  1. Ability to comprehend spoken word:

*Lectures/Talks

*Discussions

*Radio

*Newspaper

  1. Ability to make an oral presentation of grievances/needs.
  2. Ability to interpret illustrations :

Picture of a known object-emphasis on writing/narrating. Picture of an unknown object-Emphasis on clarity of meaning/concept.

  1. Recognition of symbols :

*In isolation

*In combination-Words, phrases and sentences.

*Conventional arrangement

Digital Literacy (Technology)

Computer skills have become essential in today’s world.  Students use a variety of technology tools

such as calculators, cell phones, and computers for multiple uses; communicate with friends and family,

apply for work, classroom instruction, testing, and in the workplace.  Technology standards are integrated

in the instruction to demonstrate proficiency of the reading and language arts standards.

Purpose of Adult Education Programmes

The primary purpose of adult education is to provide a second chance for those

who are poor in society or who have lost access to education for other reasons

in order to achieve social justice and equal access to education. This is realized in

the developed ability to read, write and communicate effectively.

At Ascent College we have three levels of Admission.

Beginners Level

Francophone Level

Intermediate Level

Advanced Level

Sessions

There are three sessions available

*Morning (8:30am – 10:30am)

*Afternoon (12noon – 1:00pm)

*Evening (4:00pm – 6:00pm)
